Tucked into the end of a large shopping center, it’s easy to miss Shan Kishi, but if you’re looking for some of the highest-rated dining and service in the area, you surely won’t want to. Shan Kishi boasts an extensive menu of appetizers, soups and salads, hand-rolled sushi, Japanese favorites like tempura and teriyaki, and a lengthy hibachi menu sure to please every palette, alongside beer, wine, and sake lists.
Diners often praise Shan Kishi’s reasonable prices, which trend a bit lower than area restaurants without compromising on quality, service or ambiance. It’s well suited for families, groups, and celebrations, and the full hibachi experience is not to be missed at Shan Kishi. Chefs here are both skillful cooks and seasoned performers, preparing a meal before your eyes that’s as sizzlingly delicious as it is entertaining. For those looking for a quicker bite, Shan Kishi serves up an impressively long list of sushi rolls and hand rolls, including vegetarian options and an inventive menu of Chef’s Specials.
On a recent trip to Shan Kishi, we had a little of everything, which really, is how we’d recommend experiencing a meal here. Shan Kishi’s tidy, elegant interior, with Japanese pagoda-inspired ceilings, sets the stage to enjoy dishes cooked and presented with artfulness and care.
In addition to sushi and hibachi (with a range of vegetarian, meat and seafood options available as a Single Item or Combination dinner), Shan Kishi offers teriyaki, noodle, and rice dishes as well standout appetizers like Pork Gyoza and deep-fried soft shell crab. All hibachi dinners include fried or white rice, a 2-piece shrimp appetizer, and hibachi vegetables, with a clear broth onion soup or hibachi noodles available for an additional charge. Younger diners are able to order from a children’s menu, which includes safe bets like chicken fingers alongside smaller portions of hibachi dishes. On our visit, we enjoyed the following dishes at Shan Kishi:
Tender and crispy on the outside, and full of flavor inside, these tasty dumplings started our meal off right.
A Chef’s Special roll that lived up to its name: bright spicy tuna inside topped with yellowtail & jalapeno, and a miso sauce & black tobiko to balance the heat perfectly in a savory, salty finish.
Filet Mignon Hibachi
This is a top seller among Shan Kishi’s hibachi options, and it was easy to see why. Melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked to perfection.
The highlight of our meal: fresh, flavorful and fragrant with just the right amount of char. As enjoyable to watch it cooked before your eyes as it is to eat!
Shan Kishi is the rare restaurant that truly has something for everyone. We recommend bringing your whole crew for an entertaining and delicious dining experience sure to make any occasion memorable. Just make sure to save room for dessert; we’re still talking about the fried ice cream!
Stop by Shan Kishi for lunch to enjoy most of the menu at a reduced rate, including a “Lunch Box Special” served with an entree item, miso soup, salad, California roll, Shrimp Shumai, and steamed rice.
