It was founded by Darrick Hayden in partnership with Josh Tudela in Evansville, Indiana in 2019. The impetus for creating Parlor Doughnuts was brought about when Darrick and his son traveled the nation for several years. Throughout that time, they were on a mission to seek out the best coffee and doughnuts in each area where they traveled.
Darrick’s love for good doughnuts grew alongside his son’s love for good coffee. This led to the opening of Proper Coffee in 2015. This business thrived and eventually moved toward the concept of Parlor Doughnuts. The innovative idea behind this brand is the layered doughnut which is a signature item of Parlor Doughnuts. In addition to the unique doughnut style, Parlor also offers options for every guest including gluten-friendly and vegan options. There is even a keto-friendly doughnut to say nothing of the special doughnut designed especially for pups.
Parlor Doughnuts began as a nod to the perfect doughnut but has since begun offering other items. Such as avocado toasts, acai bowls, breakfast sandwiches, and tacos. Of course, the brand also pays homage to its roots by offering specialty coffee. Parlor Doughnuts’ first proper location was opened in February 2019 in a niche, downtown shop and quickly exceeded all expectations. Not even a year later, Parlor Doughnuts expanded further onto the East Side of Evansville and opened a Parlor location complete with an on-site coffee roastery, drive-thru service, and a spacious dining area. Since those two initial locations, the brand has now expanded into a franchise with locations popping up all over the country, from coast to coast.
