Dickey’s Barbecue Pit may be a nationwide chain, but its Panama City Beach location holds plenty of charm — and it’s definitely worth a visit when you’re craving quality barbecue. This location has a casual, yet charming environment that will quickly set you and your fellow visitors at ease.

Meats are available in several forms — on sandwiches, on corn chips, by the pound, or best of all, with sides to form the restaurant’s beloved plate meals. Youngsters can order off the kid’s menu, which includes a smaller version of the standard meat plate, plus a slider plate, and even grilled cheese for picky eaters. No matter what they order, kids will want to take advantage of this location’s free soft-serve ice cream, which is also a hit among adult visitors.

Kid’s meals come accompanied by the Lil’ Yellow Cup, which can be filled to the brim with a soft drink. Adults enjoy their own version of this iconic yellow cup. Many visitors prefer to order Odwalla Lemonade or Miss Ollie Dickey’s famous iced tea. Large groups are welcome to order a full gallon of Odwalla Lemonade to share.

Regardless of your order, you’ll enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at this location. The staff members are personable and the service is quick.

A few of our favorite menu items include the following:

Beef Brisket Plate
If you order anything at Dickey’s, make it the brisket. Slow smoked in the pit and seasoned with a mouthwatering signature rub, this meat is nothing short of spectacular. It can be enjoyed sliced or chopped — and with one of three excellent barbecue sauces. As a plate, it comes with a dinner roll and your choice of two sides. Favorites include mac & cheese, baked potato casserole, fried okra, and cabbage slaw.

Pulled Pork Classic Sandwich
If you prefer your meat served in a sandwich, you’ll be pleased with this delightful option. Served on a brioche bun, this sandwich comes loaded with Dickey’s famous smoked pork. Original, sweet, and spicy barbecue sauces are available, as are toppings such as onions and pickles. Add one or two of the restaurant’s delicious sides to turn your sandwich into a plated meal.

Pit Smoked Wings
The plates and sandwiches at Dickey’s may be delicious, but when you crave wings, nothing else will do. Order six, nine, or twelve wings, and you’ll receive a single choice of flavor to accompany them. With larger orders, two flavor choices are provided. If you struggle to settle on one, consider splitting a larger order with a friend.

Frito Pie Stack
Change it up with a delightful meal that will surely have you smiling from ear to ear. This memorable dish features corn chips loaded with chopped beef brisket, beans, cheddar cheese, and white onions. A sprinkle of rib rub ties it all together.

Pecan Pie
It’s practically impossible to save room for dessert given the sizable orders at Dickey’s, but you just might manage if you arrive with a healthy appetite. You certainly won’t be disappointed by this delightfully sweet option, which includes a buttery pastry, a chewy filling, and plenty of toasted pecans. You’re welcome to order a single slice or a full pie to devour with your dining companions.

With so many delicious options at Dickey’s, it can be difficult to choose. No matter which plate, sandwich, or dessert you select, you’ll leave feeling both satisfied and eager for a return visit.

Insider Tips:
– Like many barbecue joints, Dickey’s allows you to sample meats before you actually order them. This is definitely an option worth exercising, as even the restaurant’s most popular meats won’t necessarily appeal to everybody.
– If you order a plate, begin by eating the meat — it tends to grow cold more quickly than the accompanying sides.
