Breadwinners: Explore the Best Bakeries in Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach, Florida is a fantastic place to go for a warm vacation amidst sun and sand. This is a coastal community well-known for its crystal waters, white sand beaches, and lively nightlife. But did you know it’s also a great place to get some baked goods? If you love waking up early with a sweet breakfast treat or enjoy making your own lunch with freshly baked bread, then you’ve got some excellent choices in Panama City Beach.

The following is a look at just five of the very best bakeries located in and around this community:

1. Sunrise Cafe and Bakery

Sunrise Cafe & Bakery is located on Front Beach Road near Panama City Beach Public Beach Access #36. This independent shop is family-owned and operated, and proud to serve breakfast and lunch menu items all day long. Their colorful building and cute wooden fence make them easy to spot on the drive. Unfortunately, they don’t have any outdoor seating at this time, so pull up, park, and walk in to either enjoy a good meal inside or baked items to go.

This popular cafe has four available menus: Breakfast Menu, Lunch Menu, European Menu, and Coffee Menu. Their European Menu is full of specialty items like Khachapuri, a Georgian cheese-filled bread, and Golubcy, which are savory stuffed cabbage rolls filled with a ground beef mixture. Additionally, when you walk into the Sunrise Cafe and Bakery, you’ll find display cases full of baked goods and desserts that are made fresh every day. Such daily treats typically include donuts, waffle rolls, and cannolis.

2. Thomas Donut and Snack Shop

Thomas Donut and Snack Shop is also located on Front Beach Road, but they have an even better location as you can stand at the front of their business and look out across the road to the sand dunes and ocean beyond. There’s parking for the beach there, making it so you can easily enjoy some beach time and good food in one easy stop.

This Panama City Beach location boasts a full breakfast and lunch menu which is based generally on American Diner and Grill items like Southern Fried Chicken Sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches. However, they also happen to be pretty well-known for their made-in-house donuts. They have a massive custom donut menu to choose from. Beloved donut favorites include White Cream Long John, Devil’s Food Cake, and Key Lime Pie. They also have specialty donuts that change often but deserve a gander by sweet-tooth lovers visiting Panama City Beach.

3. A’more Donuts

A’more Donuts is a cozy breakfast and bakery spot that’s located on Front Beach Road right next to Fun-Land Arcade. This is a small shop with a shotgun-style interior, but don’t let its small stature dissuade you from a visit as this location certainly serves up some delicious baked goods (and more).

Interestingly, while their name might proudly proclaim the fabulous donuts they make, most people who go here really go for their big flavor pizzas. That said, the donuts are pretty dang good! You’ll find a whole bunch of artisan-styled treats behind the counter here, including standard donuts, cream-filled donuts, and specialty flavors like Cap’n Crunch and Oreo. These donuts are also big and known for their good looks paired with good flavors. Just note that they don’t do group specials and rather all donuts are priced individually.

4. Andy’s Flour Power Cafe-Bakery

Andy’s Flour Power Cafe-Bakery is as good as its name is. You’ll find this Panama City Beach restaurant on Thomas Drive near the Treasure Cove neighborhood. The employees here start baking many of the menu items and specialty pastries well before the sun is up and their doors are open. They put a lot of effort into each of their homemade recipes, and it certainly shines through in the entrees.

This Panama City Beach restaurant and bakery is open for breakfast and lunch every day of the week. If you go on Saturday or Sunday, you can also enjoy something a little special as Andy’s Flour Power Cafe-Bakery hosts live jazz bands on the weekends. If you’re coming here for the best of their baked goods, then we have to recommend their cupcakes! These little gems are made fresh from scratch every day and topped with either homemade buttercream or cream cheese frosting. Just make sure you go early as they do only make enough for the day, and sometimes that supply runs out a lot faster than expected!

5. Cinnabon

Sometimes, you want the familiar. This is especially true when you’re on vacation and getting a touch homesick despite the gorgeous views and an itinerary full of fun. For those times, you might opt for a popular franchise bakery and dessert spot like Cinnabon. Originating in Seattle, Cinnabon now boasts locations across the world, including a cozy little spot in Panama City Beach.

The Panama City Beach Cinnabon is located in the popular shopping district located at the intersection of Pier Park Drive and L C Hilton Jr. Drive. Cinnabon is best known for perfecting the cinnamon roll with its finger-licking combination of warm dough, signature cream cheese, and premier Makara cinnamon. They also have delicious cool coffees and other iced blended beverages that, with one of their signature cinnamon rolls, make for a delicious warm, and cool breakfast to start your day with. Especially if you’re already a Cinnabon fan!
