Raven Golf Club is a beautiful coastal golf course and club that’s located amidst the marshes and pine trees of Sandestin. In fact, the Raven Golf Club is a part of the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, but you don’t have to be a guest of the resort in order to enjoy a round at this sought-after course.
You will find the Raven Golf Club just north of 30A at the end of a picturesque road behind the Grand Boulevard at Sandestin shopping mall. The course itself was designed by esteemed golf course architect Robert Jones Jr. as a par 71 in what he called, “a true modern tradition.” As you play this course, you’ll enjoy meandering through gorgeous local Florida landscapes. This is a low coastal course, so you won’t be climbing any hills, but you will enjoy a gorgeous layout that is designed to be challenging as well as enjoyable.
The first stop to make when you play a round of golf here is at the clubhouse. The Raven Golf Club shares a clubhouse with Baytowne Golf Club. While this clubhouse does not feature a full-service restaurant, it does have just about everything else you could want or need to play a round of golf. Here, friendly staff members can assist you with your gear — potentially even outfitting you with something new to purchase at the on-site golf pro shop. And while there isn’t a full-service restaurant, this shared clubhouse does offer an extensive snack bar option for golfers to fill up on before they hit the grass.
Of course, before you hit the course, you might consider some warming up. At the Raven Golf Club, golfers have a professional driving range, chipping area, and putting green to warm up their swing at. The only thing to note here is that these practice areas, like the clubhouse, are shared between the Raven Golf Club and Baytowne Golf Club. As such, with two courses and clubs using the same spaces, things can get hectic here, especially on weekends, and you might feel pressured to hurry up and start your game if you do choose a popular and busy tee time.
Once you’re ready to hit the course, we do recommend taking your time. Golfing at Raven Golf Club is good every day of the year, even after heavy seasonal storms thanks to the smart design and layout by Robert Jones Jr. Every hole plays with natural terrain featuring slopes and runways that lead the water off to either an area out of play or towards some type of water hazard that brings about a good challenge for players. Several of the holes at the Raven Golf Club will require quite the strategic play off the tee, while others are built to more show off that hard drive.
Overall, whether you’re an amateur who enjoys a game once a season, or someone who aims to don the golfing shoes once a week, we’re sure you will enjoy your time at Sandestin’s Raven Golf Club.
