When you want to perfect your golf game, you need a well-designed course set against a beautiful backdrop and the sun shining down from above. If this all sounds too good to be true, then you have not had the pleasure of visiting Bluewater Bay Golf Course.
Meandering across the land along Choctawhatchee Bay, they have three distinct courses with unique landscape features. Their courses provide breathtaking views of the bay, lake, and marshlands all around, giving you a chance to relax and reset between holes. Their bay and marsh courses were designed by none other than Jerry Pate and Tom Fazio who used their architectural skills to infuse the land with all the right features. They weaved each fairway around the natural features to create a challenging terrain while adding to the beauty of the space.
Although the owners are always working on the fairways to keep them in tiptop shape, it is a constant battle against the land. Pampas grass, fire ant hills, and other irregularities crop up all the time, offering new challenges with every visit. Sand regularly escapes the bunkers, piling up on the green in random areas. With all the nice weather year-round, the grass often grows faster than the maintenance crew can mow it, sending balls flying in wayward directions from time to time.
In addition to the course, they have a small pro shop on site to give you a chance to upgrade your gear or simply add to your collection. You can also grab what you need to meet the dress code, including golf shoes with soft spikes. Once you have your gear ready to go, you can select your course and head out to play on your selected course.
Each option has nine holes that are spread out across the region, making renting a golf cart a necessity. The course owners expect groups to complete 18 holes in four hours or less and will enforce time limits as needed to keep the games moving forward. Since carts must remain on the paths at all times, this can prove challenging for those who like to take their time lining up each shot.
After finishing up your round of golf, you can kick back and relax at the onsite sports bar and grill, Slick Micks. Located just inside the clubhouse, this eatery serves up refreshing beverages that promise to quench your thirst in an instant. You can also treat yourself to brick oven pizza and Stromboli in a variety of fun flavors, including cheesesteak. Don’t forget to order up a tasty dessert to finish off your day out right. They have funnel cake fries, New York cheesecake rolls, and warm triple chocolate cake, just to name a few things.
