The Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club is one of Destin’s highest ranked golf clubs, and it’s not for members only. The course and clubhouse are open to the public, so you’re welcome to schedule a tee time.
The golf course itself is a 6,894-yard, par-72 course that appeals to everyone from the amateur to the professional. Its 18 holes are nestled in the picturesque Choctawhatchee Bay nature preserves and offer expansive views of the area’s pristine waters.
The course has been recognized as one of the “Top Places to Play in North America” by Golf Digest and received regional accolades as the best course in Northwest Florida from both Emerald Coast Magazine and Florida Gulf News. It has also served as the site of a U.S. Open Qualifier.
For play on the course, guests are welcome to use the club’s golf carts that are equipped with a state-of-the-art Visage GPS system. There are also chilled apples at two stationary locations on the course and rotating beverage carts to keep guests hydrated. For those who need clubs, premium Callaway clubs are available to rent.
Those who want to not just play but actively study their skill can take lessons and practice with the Trackman simulator and through the Golf Academy. PGA pros are on hand to help golfers of all ability levels with any aspect of their game.
There are also two pools, a playground, a billiards room, tennis courts, a private library and locker rooms on the property. Lulu’s Restaurant and Bar provides meals and snacks in the restaurant.
A few of our favorite highlights at Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club include:
The Golf Course
In addition to winning multiple awards, the course was designed by Robert C. Walker. Robert was formerly the lead architect for Arnold Palmer, and he crafted an absolutely gorgeous course.
The Pro Shop
If you’re visiting, don’t miss the opportunity to take home a souvenir from the pro shop. You’ll find a large variety of shirts, hats, trinkets and other items.
The Golf Academy
Even if you’re relaxing on vacation, put a little work into your game. You’ll be surprised how much the PGA pros can teach you even in a short amount of time.
The Pools
Doing anything in Florida can leave you hot and sweaty. Take a quick shower, and then cool off in a pool. One of them is perfectly aligned so it looks like you’re swimming in the ocean.
Chilled Apples
Chilled apples are simple but surprisingly useful. Get one at the first and tenth holes, and you’ll have a snack should you get hungry on the course. You’ll also have something to throw if you lose a ball in the bushes.
Insider Tip:
– The 18-hole course has been completely redone recently, so it’ll be all new even if you played here a few years ago. There’s no need to look for another (not as good) golf course in order to play something new.
