The Shrimp Basket is far from fancy, but what it lacks in sophistication it more than makes up for in warmth and tastiness. This chain is prolific throughout the South, but is especially popular along the Emerald Coast.

There is plenty to love about this particular location, which is situated conveniently close to the Destin Harbor and next door to the Destin Inn & Suites. Its proximity to this and a few other affordable hotels makes it a top stop among tourists on the hunt for a quick meal. However, locals also appreciate the Shrimp Basket with many stopping in for takeout on the way home from work.

While takeout is available, there’s something to be said for dining onsite. You’ll enjoy comfortable table seating in a pleasant environment featuring beach-themed decor. Large windows grant the restaurant a bright and open feel. The patio isn’t quite as comfortable, but it’s still worth taking advantage of on a nice day.

Seafood is the obvious focus at the Shrimp Basket, where you’ll find a vast selection of shrimp, fish, crab, and oyster recipes. If you’re looking to indulge in the iconic Destin seafood experience, the Shrimp Basket is a great place to start. If, however, you’re not a huge fan of seafood, don’t worry — a small selection of non-seafood appetizers and entrees are available. The dishes that lack seafood tend to be unambitious, but they’re still tasty. If you’re looking to avoid meat or fish altogether, you’d best eat elsewhere.

Young visitors should be just as satisfied as their adult counterparts, as the kids’ menu includes shrimp, chicken strips, grilled cheese, and other favorites. These youth entrees can come accompanied by fries or applesauce. Apple juice is available for a small additional charge.

While your kids enjoy apple juice or soda, you’re welcome to kick back with a beer. While the Shrimp Basket’s seafood tends to pair best with a cold brew, wine is also available. If you’re looking to avoid alcohol or simply want the full southern experience, be sure to order a sweet tea.

A few of our favorite menu items include the following:

Seafood Platter
Struggling to choose between shrimp, fish, oysters, and crab? Why not enjoy all four? This platter makes it possible but remember: it takes a huge appetite to finish this sizable meal. In addition to four seafood favorites, you’ll receive the restaurant’s standard basket inclusions of shrimp slaw, corn fritters, hush puppies, and French fries.

Shrimp ‘n Grits
If you crave classic southern cuisine but also want to enjoy the best of the Gulf, you’re the perfect candidate for this amazing meal. Dig into cheese grits and grilled shrimp, along with toasted bread and the restaurant’s signature shrimp slaw.

Blackened Redfish
The ultimate seafood meal awaits. You best be hungry, because this large blackened redfish rests atop a sizable bed of rice and is smothered in a shrimp and crab cream sauce.

Catfish Po’boy
Like all of the po’boy sandwiches served at the Shrimp Basket, this version is available in either a regular size or ‘overstuffed.’ Regardless of size, your po’boy comes with fried catfish, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and pickles. All this is served on a lightly toasted bun and alongside French fries.

Funnel Cake Fries
Indulge your sweet tooth with this craving-inducing dessert. Drizzled in caramel sauce and sprinkled with powdered sugar, these fries are far from healthy — but they sure are delicious.

Insider Tips:

-Don’t hesitate to visit with your pooch; the Destin location’s patio is pet-friendly.
