If you’ve ever eaten at an Outback Steakhouse, you’re probably familiar with the deal: Hearty, high-quality food with excellent service in a convivial atmosphere. Conveniently located across the street from the Destin Commons shopping area, Outback Steakhouse in Destin exceeds these expectations. Portions were plentiful, meals were expertly seasoned, and the service was attentive, fast and friendly.
There are a few things you should know upfront if you’re planning to eat at Outback Steakhouse. For starters, it’s a popular dining destination so if you go at a peak time, such as during spring break, you should plan on a wait. That said, Outback does allow you to remotely put your name on the waitlist via its website. You might still have a wait when you arrive, but it will be significantly shorter.
Next, while steakhouses are often on the fancy, formal side, Outback Steakhouse is refreshingly casual. It’s definitely a come-as-you-are kind of place, making it suitable for all sorts of events — from a quiet meal for two to larger family celebrations. (If you are celebrating something special, make sure to let your server know.)
Third, you should know that Outback Steakhouse has much more than steak. Yes, the word “steak” is in its name and steak is absolutely one of the things Outback does best. However, the extensive menu comprises a huge variety of options, including seafood, chicken, ribs, burgers, pork, pasta, and more.
A few of our favorite Outback Steakhouse menu items include the following:
Bloomin’ Onion
No trip to Outback is complete without this fried-to-perfection onion appetizer served with the restaurant’s signature spicy sauce.
Seared Peppered Ahi
This flavor-packed sashimi-style tuna dish is served over tangy Asian slaw with a side of creamy ginger-soy sauce.
Alice Springs Chicken
When you hear the words “Outback Steakhouse” chicken isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. It might be after you try this wood-fire grilled chicken breast smothered in sauteed mushrooms, bacon, a mix of Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese, and honey mustard sauce.
Signature Ribeye
You can’t go wrong when you order a steak at the Outback. While the filet mignon, center-cut sirloin, NY strip, and porterhouse are all tender and flavorful, the ribeye is especially juicy and savory, while the wood-fired grilled preparation imbues it with a hint of oak.
Chocolate Thunder from Down Under
Dessert is no time to practice restraint. Featuring a huge pecan brownie covered in ice cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate shavings, and whipped cream, Outback’s Chocolate Thunder from Down Under is an unforgettable end to any meal. (If you’re feeling on the fuller side, we recommend sharing.)
Outback also has an excellent bar menu full of ridiculously delicious beverages, such as Strawberry Kiwi ‘Rita, Huckleberry Hooch Moonshine Cocktail, The Wallaby Darned, and the Classic Steakhouse Martini. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just winding down after a long day, be sure to stop in during happy hour for reduced drink prices and a festive atmosphere.
