East Pass Coffee Co. (formerly JumpinGoat Coffee Cafe) isn’t so much a cafe as it is a coffee cart, but don’t let the nomenclature confuse you. In a setting that’s a beautiful as the Destin Harbor, you won’t be searching for a cute indoor space. Coffee from a cart on the water is just fine.
The coffee menu at East Pass Coffee Co. is simple but delicious. Hot Coffee, Iced Coffee and Cold Brew options dominated the menu, but there also are a few sweet Signature Drinks. Additionally, the coffee blends used in all of these options range from the traditional Signature Blend to flavored ones like German Chocolate Cake, Southern Pecan and Triple Pleasure.
A trio of smoothies, all of which are fruity, make up the non-coffee drink options.
For something to eat, there are three small snacks and several ice cream desserts. The snacks are good, but the desserts especially aren’t to be missed. Not only is ice cream the perfect complement to coffee on a warm Florida day, but several of the cold treats here are hand-made.
Prices here can be a little high if you’re accustomed to an inexpensive place in your home town, but they aren’t unreasonable in light of the location and service. The location directly on Destin’s boardwalk can’t be beat, and the baristas are always top-notch.
There’s a lot to explore in Destin’s Harbor, and you might need a little pick-me-up during the day. Whether you prefer caffeine, sugar or both, East Pass Coffee Co. has a special treat to keep you going. Cold Brew
Steeped for hours in coarse-ground Ethiopian beans, the Cold Brew is strong and flavorful like coffee should be. Get the 20-ounce, for this is more caffeinated than standard coffee, or go for the bigger 32-ounce size if you’re able to handle it.
German Chocolate Cake
The German Chocolate Cake is actually a coffee drink rather than a slice of the confectionery classic. The liquid concoction tastes just like the real thing, though, as it combines chocolate-flavored coffee, coconut cream and salted caramel.
Vietnamese Cold Brew
The Vietnamese style of coffee mixes a caffeinated beverage with lots of sweetened condensed milk. This version uses the cart’s high-grade Ethiopian cold brew, which has the perfect body and flavor profile for adding such a sweet milk.
Energy Ball
The energy balls are the healthiest thing on the menu, and they’ll keep you going perhaps longer than coffee will. The balls consist of oats, agave, shredded coconut, chia seeds, flax seeds, chocolate chips and peanut butter. Altogether, this is a tasty combination that nourishes.
Handmade Ice Cream Sandwich
Ice cream smooshed between two cookies is a popular favorite even when it’s been sitting in a grocery store’s freezer for months. The dessert gets even better when it’s freshly made on-site, like the Handmade Ice Cream Sandwich here is.
