The Bottom Line:

Sugar Shack's claim to fame is its delicious ice cream made from local dairy farms. This small business offers a variety of creative flavors that rotate regularly, and every scoop is made without harmful additives. While the menu is largely stuffed with classic options, such as shakes and floats, you can also order their famous Nacho Sundae for a different kind of treat.

Sugar Shack in Port St. Joe is fairly new on the dessert scene, but it’s managed to make a big splash with the locals. When the owners and staff are as sweet as the ice cream they serve, it’s a popular place to pick up a scoop or two. If the weather starts to heat up, stopping here for a waffle cone, milkshake, or ice cream sandwich is a must. This mom-and-pop operation has quickly become involved in the community, supporting the students and other local institutions however they can.

Rotating Flavors

Sugar Shack PSJ knows that people want to try new flavors when it comes to their ice cream. Peanut butter bomb, coffee chaos, strawberry cheesecake, chai: they rotate their ice creams on a regular basis. Don’t be surprised to see the classics plus any number of creative options if you visit. Ice cream is a versatile base that can handle any number of ingredients, and some people just know how to combine the salty, sweet, tangy, and tart to make a truly delectable bite. Inspired by the foods of the world, this is a great place to order something that’s a step outside the standard vanilla or chocolate.

 No Additives

Ice cream is undoubtedly a universal food, but not all scoops are created equal. If you don’t want to compromise on the quality of what you’re eating, Sugar Shake is hand-made with no additives. Plus, the ingredients are sourced from local dairy farms, so you’re supporting families in Port St. Joe. Plus, you can see the staff’s dedication in every scoop they serve. When you’re proud of everything you make, it shines through in the way people take your order.

When you’re in Sugar Shack Port St. Joe, try the following dishes:

Nacho Sundae
This creative dessert is a blend of waffle chips, plus two scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate. Customize yours by choosing the flavor of the scoops and then adding three of your favorite toppings (the first three toppings are at no extra charge). The crunchy addition to a traditional sundae is delectable and definitely worth a try.

Ice Cream Sammie
Ice cream sandwiches are a classic American treat, and Sugar Shack does everything it can to give you an elevated version of each component. The cookies are fresh and soft, and the scoops inside the layers are truly mouth-watering (and easier to eat).

Float
Floats were first invented in the late 1800s after their creator ran out of ice. Whether you believe that tale or not, though, they’re still a popular selection. At Sugar Shack, you can get your choice of ice cream and soft drink in one glass. Half the fun of ordering it is seeing how the carbonation reacts with the chill and the sugars of the ice cream.

Shakes
Whether you want a Fruity Pebbles shake or classic vanilla, Sugar Shack is ready to take your order. Stop by here if you want to sip something that’s creamy and satisfying after a particularly warm day.

Ice cream under the Florida sun or stars is a tradition in the state. If you want to try a brand that’s made with local ingredients from scratch, this is one place where you won’t be disappointed. Supporting small businesses sometimes takes a little extra research, but we promise you’ll be glad you made the effort.
