Local Expert's Rating:
4 / 5
The Bottom Line:

The Garden at Palafox + Main might be a new addition to Pensacola, but it's already managed to make quite a splash. With several food trucks and kiosks, this open-air concept food hall is covered with a large roof to keep the rain at bay. This is a great place to grab a taco, try a smoothie, or get a cupcake from one of its bakeries

When everyone wants a different cuisine, a food hall can be the key to ending the arguments without the drama. The Garden at Palafox + Main might be a new addition to the city but it’s quickly becoming the place to picnic in Pensacola. With four food trucks, five kiosks, one bar, and one restaurant, it pretty much guarantees that you’re going to find what you want.

There’s something about eating outdoors in Florida, an act that just seems to set your worries on pause even more. Yet Florida doesn’t always have the weather for al fresco dining, which is why The Garden has invested in a new roof to cover its hungry patrons. So even when it’s pouring buckets, guests can still enjoy a meal without having to seek shelter under a nearby awning. Here are just a few selections that have already been installed at The Garden.

MELT Gourmet Sandwiches and Mac N’ Cheese
This epic food truck takes the art of grilled cheese to a new level. Try a burger with some mac n’ cheese on it, or a cheese sandwich with pulled pork on it. From the fries to the funnel cake, this spot is perfect for kids and the kid in you alike.

Calavera Tacos
Tacos, nachos, and even fried avocado: Calavera Tacos has a lot of flavors packed on the pages of their menu. Pork smothered in queso, tortillas fried to perfection, and layers of fresh veggies, rice, and beans all await at this inventive food truck.

Petunia’s Bakery
Dana Dugas is a native of Pensacola and a big believer in the community she found here. From wedding cakes to cupcakes and everything in between, this is a great kiosk to swing by for a little pick-me-up.

ESaan Thai Street Food
Street food has made quite a name for itself these past few years. Flavorful, affordable, and convenient, every culture has its own version of fast and easy. ESaan is a creative showcase that strays far from the mainstays of Pad Thai and Curry. The good news is that you’ll love exploring the many regions of Thailand through every bite.

Deorum
You might not speak very much Latin, but this kiosk might inspire you to learn this particular word. Meaning food from the gods, this place serves up smoothies and acai bowls that you can feel good about eating from the first bite to the last.

Darios Bake Shop
Venezuelan baked goods might not have been on the top of your list prior to visiting The Garden at Palafox + Main, but they could very well become a new favorite after. The owner loves introducing new flavors to his patrons, and he’s created a menu you won’t want to miss.

The Garden at Palafox + Main is still coming into its own, so expect to see changes. They’ll likely add new vendors and food trucks along the way, making this an even more versatile destination. Just make sure to check the website for specific hours of operation and availability before you go.
