LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant serves up sandwiches, fried seafood and more grub right where the boats come in. Grab a chair and your Po Boy, and enjoy a meal while watching the marina’s activity.
The menu at LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant is full of handheld po boys, sandwiches and baskets, but there are fork-and-knife dinners for a fuller evening meal. The lighter options that are handheld span a range of seafoods, burgers and deli sandwiches, while the larger dinner entrees favor pastas and fresh catches from the sea. Go with the Blue Crab Stuffed Grouper Filet for a special evening meal, or get a Chicken Marinara if you want something more conventional.
Soups and salads are also available, and can be ordered as an appetizer, side or small meal. The desserts aren’t to be missed, with the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cheesecake being a particular favorite. For beverages, non-alcoholic sodas, iced tea, coffee and milk are on the menu.
All of this is served at prices that fishermen can afford and within a cast of where they tie-up. Most handheld sandwiches are under $15, and many are under $10. Dinners run a little more, with pastas going for around $15, and the seafood entrees priced between $17 and $30.
The restaurant directly overlooks the marina, and you can almost always see boats going in and out. The activity is especially fun to watch in the early evening, when the charters are coming in to catalog and clean their catches.
When you want to eat something from the sea right alongside the waters where it came from, head to LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant. There’s something magical about watching the catches come in while you dine, and you might see a few people head right to the restaurant’s deck after getting off the boat. The charters who work at this marina know how good the food here is.
A few of our menu favorites at LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant include:
Catch & Cook
Nothing tastes better than your own catch. If you’ve reeled in something tasty while on the boat or dock, clean it and bring it to the kitchen. They’ll cook up to 1 pound of your cleaned fish to your preferred style.
Steamed Oysters
Available only when the oyster bar next door is open, steamed oysters make a great appetizer. Get them by the pound or half-pound — just plan on ordering some extras because everyone will probably like them.
Schooner’s Basket for 2
Shrimp, oysters, scallops and grouper, all fried up. There’s enough for two, and that’s before you start in on the hushpuppies, coleslaw and other sides that come with the shared meal.
Shrimp & Grits
Shrimp straight from the Gulf pair with old-fashioned grits to make a true Florida Panhandle meal. The dish comes with sausage in a creole sauce, which only further shows how great the classic cooking around here can be.
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cheesecake
Finish off your meal with the award-winning White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cheesecake. As soon as you take a bite, you’ll taste why the judges were so impressed.
