Destin’s Hammerhead’s Bar & Grill features the kind of fresh and fabulous fare made famous by classic beach-shack style eateries. Combined with water views of the bay, and live music, Hammerhead’s is an excellent option to grab a quick, casual snack, enjoy a full meal with family and friends, or savor a signature cocktail while watching fish jump in the pristine sparkling waters of the bay.

Hammerhead’s overall ambiance is open and airy — it’s an open-air restaurant with a covered area for when weather conditions call for some protection.

At first glance, the menu looks like dressed-up traditional bar food, but further investigation reveals some delicious twists on old classics.

With menu items such as chicken fingers, tacos, burgers, and nachos, Hammerhead’s is also surprisingly kid-friendly. Seafood aficionados who have trouble deciding between menu items can enjoy a seafood bucket which combines lobster, mussels, shrimp, crab, and clams that can feed up to five hungry people.

This restaurant also features a boiled seafood section in true low country style. Guests enjoy boiled shrimp, crab, and lobster along with boiled potatoes and boiled corn on the cob. Hammerhead’s Bar & Grill is conveniently situated on the dock at Destin’s popular Sandestin resort.

Those who aren’t crazy for seafood will find plenty of other options here as well.

Here’s just a few of our menu favorites:

Mahi Mahi
This traditional seafood sandwich is served open-faced with your choice of Caribbean, Coastal, or Cajun sauce. It comes with pickles, onions, tomato, and shredded cabbage. It’s also served with Hammerhead’s trademark waffle fries.

Pig on the Bay
Pulled pork roasted low and slow combined with honey ham, pickles, and Provolone cheese is served on pressed Cuban bread to create this iconic sandwich. Served with a side of crispy waffle fries.

Blackened Grouper
This open-faced sandwich features your choice of sauce, shredded cabbage, tomato, and pickles, and is finished off with a side of waffle fries.

Wedge Salad
This cool, crisp wedge of iceberg lettuce dressed in Bleu cheese crumbles, dressing, tomato, and bacon is the perfect light fare to take the edge off a hot Florida day.

Boom Boom Shrimp
Perfect for enjoying with a cold beer, your favorite cocktail, or refreshing soft drink, Boom Boom Shrimp is battered, deep-friend, and tossed in a sauce made with sweet chilies.

Sides include boiled potatoes, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and waffle fries. For dessert, you can choose between Key Lime Pie, fried bread pudding bites, or the featured dessert of the day.

Hammerhead’s Bar & Grill also features a good assortment of soft drinks, beer and wine selections with something for every palate. Specialty drinks include The Hammer, which is made with a combination of light and dark rum, pineapple and orange juices, and Grenadine, and Damn the Weather, which is a concoction of vodka, raspberry liqueur, and pineapple and cranberry juices.

Regardless of your menu and drink choices, the beach-shack fare found at Hammerhead’s Bar & Grill is sure to please. The delicious menu combined with the open-air, waterfront location make this restaurant a must-visit.
