A local icon, Red Bar 30A captures the essence of the Grayton Beach community. This beloved bar has long been a local staple, with residents and tourists alike returning again and again not only for the food and drinks but also for the self-described ‘funky atmosphere,’ in which jazz bands and lighthearted conversation make every visit a joy.

The bar’s unique ambiance is arguably responsible for its elevated status, with several notable events having taken place there over the years. A chief example? Jim Carey’s birthday party while he was filming The Truman Show.

The Red Bar’s recent history demonstrates the power of perseverance in the culinary industry. The bar was destroyed by fire in early 2019, but that didn’t stop owner Oli Petit from making his mark in the 30A community. Soon after his bar was ruined, he began plans for a rebuild, with hopes of improving upon the original. While a variety of obstacles stood in the way of this effort, the bar made its long-awaited return in July 2020.

Simple dishes dominate the Red Bar menu, although many are elevated with quality ingredients not typically associated with bar food. Seafood is heavily represented on the dinner menu, but both vegetarians and picky eaters can find plenty of other options worth sampling.

Whether you enjoy a drink alongside your meal or on its own, you’ll definitely want to order an adult beverage as you relax at this Grayton Beach hot spot. When in doubt, opt for the bloody Mary, which is fondly referred to as the ‘house salad.” The mimosas are also delectable. After a long day on the beach, however, a cold beer may be your preferred drink. If so, you’ll find plenty of options that pair nicely with everything from grouper to cheeseburgers.

A few of our favorite menu items include the following:

Blackened Grouper
Grouper forms the peak of this delicious tower, which also includes a layer of spinach and a bacon cheddar grit cake. The entire stack is topped with a delectable brown butter sauce. Enjoy a fresh salad on the side.

Baked Eggplant
This take on eggplant defies all expectations. In true Gulf form, it’s stuffed with scallops and shrimp. The stuffing also includes zucchini and squash. A tomato-based beurre blanc tops the eggplant, while a house salad is served on the side.

Crab Cakes
Only available on Friday and Saturday evenings, Red Bar’s crab cakes warrant a special visit. They come with a beurre blanc citrus topping, plus a house salad and mashed potatoes on the side.

Fried Shrimp Po’ Boy
This lunch staple is a great option if you’re in the mood for Cajun-inspired cuisine. A similar po’ boy is available with fried oysters instead of shrimp.

Manicotti
If you prefer to avoid seafood, you’ll be thrilled to find this simple, yet delicious entree on the dinner menu. This pasta favorite is stuffed with three cheeses and baked to perfection in a flavorful red sauce.

If you love jazz music, seafood, and quirky vibes, you’ll feel right at home as you relax at Grayton Beach’s Red Bar 30A.

Insider Tips:
– Parking can be a hassle at this location — especially during jazz performances. Shuttle service is available, however, and may be a more convenient alternative to the usual difficulties of getting around the 30A area. Otherwise, build time into your plans for circling the lot.
– With so many live music events occurring at the bar, it can be difficult to keep track of special occasions. When in doubt, look to the official Facebook page for updates.
