Are you and your family heading to the Pensacola Beach, Florida area? Well, you can choose your own adventure at the Gulf Breeze Zoo in Gulf Breeze, Florida. The Gulf Breeze Zoo is the perfect way to combine learning about animals and conservation efforts with outdoor fun and interactive activities. The Gulf Breeze Zoo sits on over 50 acres and includes an amazing 800 animals.

The Gulf Breeze Zoo offers plenty of opportunities for guests to get “up close and personal” with its residents. Adults and children alike will get a thrill out of hand-feeding the giraffes. There’s a petting area that allows young visitors to come face-to-face with human-friendly animals. Brave visitors may want to participate in the alligator feeding. There’s also an amazing free flight Australian aviary where birds may perch on your hand or shoulder. You can even take an opportunity to hand feed the birds. This is a feature you just have to experience to fully appreciate.

The Gulf Breeze Zoo provides an opportunity for your family to take a nostalgic, 15-minute narrated trip on their newly renovated CP Huntington style locomotive. At over 50 acres the train does not travel through the entire zoo but provides a fun and interesting trip. Young visitors especially will appreciate waving hello to the hippos from their seats aboard the train. 

The boardwalk at the zoo allows visitors to watch herds of antelope, deer, zebra, and rhino. The elevated walkway provides a great view of the gorillas on their island habitats and the free-range preserve. This is a fence-free experience that provides an exceptional opportunity for photography.

The Gulf Breeze Zoo provides some behind the scenes opportunities with Meet the Keeper Talks scheduled daily and VIP Behind the Scenes Animal Tours.

The animals aren’t the only ones who will want feeding while at the Gulf Breeze Zoo. That’s why the Watering Hole is open for human visitors daily from 10 am to 4 pm. The menu features family-friendly foods like Angus cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, pizzas, Nathans all-beef hot dogs, and a selection of kids meals. The Gulf Breeze Zoo also has a variety of refreshing treats like Icees, sno-cones, Dippin’ Dots, ice cream treats, and others.

You may want to grab a souvenir from your visit at the Gift Shop located near the main entrance. Choose from a wide selection of stuffed animal toys, t-shirts, cups, and zoo-branded memorabilia. It’s a nice way to remember your visit. 

The zoo offers seasonal events like Halloween’s “Boo at the Zoo” and December’s “Christmas ZOObilee.” They also have a variety of features, exhibits, and contests throughout the year. There always seems to be something going on at the zoo.

– The zoo offers affordable rental wagons for those with young ones. They also serve as a great way to carry personal belongings and those you pick up along the way. Wheelchairs are also available for rent.
– This area of Florida has many military residents and attractions like the Gulf Breeze Zoo offer military discounts. Be sure to bring your military ID to qualify. 
– Please note the zoo does not allow pets, so make other arrangements.
– Your admission to the Gulf Breeze Zoo is valid throughout the day. This means if you so choose, you can leave and re-enter at no additional cost on the day of your visit. Save your receipt for readmission.
