The Caribbean nod in Montego Bay Seafood House & Oyster Bar’s name is earned honestly, as West Indian flavors sit side by side with classic Southern and Gulf Coast cookery on the menu. The turquoise walls and other vibrant colors inside suggest a sort of tropical paradise, to boot: an environment that would seem to call for a margarita and something spicy on the plate.

The restaurant’s been around since 1982, and over the years it’s earned some faithful local and out-of-towner regulars.

Variety is the name of the game on the Montego Bay menu. The starters alone cover quite a lot of territory, from the Florida-Style Crab Cakes and the chicken wings to the Gator Bites and the Grand Cayman Dip, a creamy mishmash of wahoo, mahi-mahi, and whiting served with fried plantain chips.

If you feel like a soup or salad course, consider some classic gumbo or the Roasted Corn & Crab Chowder to keep the down-by-the-sea theme going.

Seafood entrees include San Tropique Coconut Shrimp, fish or shrimp tacos, grouper, flounder, and fish or shrimp tacos. You can also order a variety of raw or baked oyster platters.

From the Famous Superdiver Burger to the Mo’Better Sandwich (with white cod) to the Caribbean Spice Ribeye and the Montego Bay Chicken Tenders, there’s much else to tempt your taste buds with here.

There’s a daily menu of lunch specials on which you might find such dishes as Caribbean Meatloaf, Popcorn Shrimp, and good old-fashioned Liver & Onions. A kids menu, meanwhile, answers to the appetites of the pintsized crowd, and the desserts are all-ages satisfying: including Key Lime Pie by the slice or (temptingly) the whole pie.

As you’d expect, there’s a full bar menu of drinks to accompany your Montego Bay feast. (There’s a weekday happy hour on offer too with great deals on beer, wine, and cocktails.)

Montego Bay Seafood House & Oyster Bar is open each and every day of the week and nearly every day of the year, Christmas excluded.

Insider Tip:
– Montego Bay has an abundance of TVs generally tuned to sports, so the bar in particular is actually a pretty great place to catch the game and have a cold one, even if you’re not looking for a full meal.
