HarborWalk Adventures in Destin: Ziplining, Free-falling, and Other High-Thrills Fun
Local Expert's Rating:
4 / 5
The Bottom Line:

If you’d like to add some more thrill to your Emerald Coast visit, HarborWalk Adventures has the goods: It offers the tallest and longest dual zip lines in Destin, a unique 40-foot-tall LED Rockwall, and a 100-foot free fall, among other attractions. Given various package deals integrating the rides and games, this is a great place for a kid’s (or, hey, a kid-at-heart’s) birthday party or some other organized group getaway.

Get your feet off the ground and crank up the adrenaline meter along Destin’s waterfront at HarborWalk Adventures, which comes anchored by a trio of top-draw thrill experiences amid HarborWalk Village’s shops and restaurants.

HarborWalk Adventures lays claim to the highest and the longest dual zip lines in town, strung between steel towers 100 and 80 feet tall and offering a roughly 1,000-foot round trip. Given the side-by-side riding, it’s a great option for couples and families, and the high-speed, gull’s-eye vantage over Destin’s shining “sugar sand” beachfront and Gulf of Mexico surf is definitely one for the memory bank. (Heads up: The HarborWalk Adventures Zip Line mandates a 50-pound minimum and 250-pound maximum limit for riders.)

Then there’s the 40-foot-tall, three-lane Rockwall, outfitted in unique fashion with interactive LED handholds. This tower setup offers several games for a stimulating, challenging, and—thanks to the illumination—snazzy climb.

You can dance with gravity, meanwhile, in the HarborWalk Adventures Free-fall experience, which—courtesy of the Powerfan Free-fall machine—facilitates a 100-foot drop to a safe bull’s-eye landing without the need to monkey with parachutes or bungee-cord straps. It takes a bit of mettle to take the plunge (literally), but that’s part of the fun, and your plummet and always-perfect landing are liable to draw some well-deserved cheers from onlookers.

Besides those three main-draw features, HarborWalk Adventures also offers other kid-friendly games and interactive experiences, including the Mirror Maze (immersive illusion), Aqua Spheres (“Hamster Ball” action), and Atomic Rush (a light-up contest), not to mention some high-bouncing trampolines just for good measure.

Alongside one-off rides and games, HarborWalk Adventures provides party packages for birthdays and other special events, which include various combinations of the attractions as well as a fun session with a friendly “Harbor Host” guide up on the HarborWalk Village main stage. Set package options include Rockin’ & Rollin’, Zippin’ & Flippin’, and Grande Adventure, but you can also opt to customize your itinerary with the Build Your Own package.

All things considered, HarborWalk Adventures offers one of the best one-stop shops for kid-friendly fun in Destin, whether you and the gang are tackling the dual zip line, the LED Rockwall, the 100-foot Free-fall, or—for a maximum dose of thrills—all of the above!
