Rockin’ M Ranch offers guided horseback rides along the sandy shores of Cape San Blas. If you love horses, the sand and the water, there’s probably no more peaceful way to explore Cape San Blas from shore.

All of Rockin’ M Ranch’s rides follow the shoreline, traversing dry and damp sand the entire way. The rides are beginner-friendly and no experience is necessary, but the setting is also captivating enough to keep even experienced equestrians entertained. Your group will walk along the shoreline during the morning, evening or sunset hours, and all three options afford plenty of opportunities for pictures.

If you have a special request for a romantic date or family outing, private rides are also available. Talk with the guides about how you’d like to spend a ride, and they’ll know what to recommend.

Importantly, almost everyone in the family can come on these horseback rides — because no one should miss out on something this captivating. Double riding isn’t permitted, but children as young as 3 years old can go on their own gelding with a lead. Children up to age 15 must wear a helmet per state law, and this is provided. Additionally, the horses have a maximum weight limit of 240 pounds.

The prices for these rides are reasonable, considering the cost of keeping horses and the prime location. Hour-long rides run $60 with a group, and sunset rides are another $10.

Walking along a sandy beach is always a nice way to spend an hour, and it’s even more enjoyable if you’re on horseback. Book an outing with Rockin’ M Ranch, and everyone in your group will enjoy the ride.

A few of our favorite rides at Rockin’ M Ranch include:

Morning Ride
A ride that’s over before the sun gets well into the sky, the Morning Ride is probably the most comfortable of the three standard options. You won’t be too hot, and everyone in the group will have plenty of energy. This is an especially good option for families with young children.

Evening Ride
Occurring a little before sunset, the Evening Ride offers ample opportunities to spot wildlife. Wildlife can include insects at certain times of the year, so be sure to bring your bug spray and sunscreen. The birds and marine life you might see more than make up for a few pesky flies or mosquitos, though.

Sunset Ride
The most popular of the three standard rides, the Sunset Ride takes you along the west side of the cape as the sun goes down on the far side of the Gulf. If you have only seen the sunset here from Port St. Joe itself, the view is even more magical when looking out over the open ocean rather than just the bay. Be sure to note how the sand changes color along with the sky as the ride progresses and the sun goes down.

Private Ride
For an especially unique outing, opt for the Private Ride. Stop where you want for pictures, and be sure to ask the guide to take a photo of the whole group at your favorite spot along the way.

Insider Tips:
– Be sure to arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled ride time. Some paperwork and a short training lesson must be completed before embarking, and you don’t want to leave late.
– Remember that all ride times are in Eastern Standard Time. If you’re coming from the Central Time Zone, make sure you convert to EST so that you arrive at the right time. Also, remember that your phone may convert automatically when you drive over.
